Outfit post: Counting Stars

"Lately I've been, I've been losing sleep
dreaming about the things that we could be..."

Last days of school here in UP! We're really losing our sleep because of final exams. Haha!
During our free times, we listen to cover songs like that cover of Chrissy, Kurt and Alex of Counting Stars and Sam Tsui's Mashup of Let It Go/Let Her Go. That's how we relax ourselves in fact you'll just hear us singing those covers while writing papers or observing plates.

Parisian satchel bag |  Romwe Galaxy Blue Printed Leggings

I recently held a giveaway from Romwe in my previous post and I spared some time "window shopping" again at their site. I updated my Wishlist to bookmark some items I would like to order in the future. It helps! Especially you can see if the items are on sale or still have stock.

Summer Dress Picks from Koees.com

Summer is fast approaching! Do you already have fashion ideas for summer?
Personally, I'm lazy to dress up during cold months. During those times I just grab the thickest and snuggest top and bottom. But for summer, I enjoy mix matching clothes and colors! Especially dresses since I feel so girly and carefree and  dancing under the sun!

I'm going to show you some of my summer dress picks from an online shop, Koees.com . I browsed through their site and found these cute dresses that complement the sunny weather.

If you're a monochrome lover like me, then this is so perfect for you! Who says you can't go floral without being too girly? This dress looks sophisticated and sharp yet the pink hem gives the cute contrast.

From a simple one (or in fact half) flower dress, let's move to this one!
The blue color reminds me of the sea yet the floral skirt gives the ethereal feel! Imagine yourself walking through the park or the streets of Metro. Breezy!

Okay this one is when you're tired of the maxi skirts/dress. Jumper skirts! All you need is a plain white shirt and voila! With just a two piece clothing, this can be your "lazy outfit" during summer that will surely grab a second look.

Boarding a ship?Travelling through high seas? Look like the captain of fashion with this nautical design!

Psychedelic patterns look chic during summer! It wasn't overdone in this dress. Still fab!

It's fun to play with outfits this summer so don't waste the chance while the sun's still out!
You can visit Koees.com to get those dresses! Or browse their site for more!

Happy Summer!

Bag Designer for a Night!(Plus Tutorial!)

a

Hello there!

Remember my Shoe Designer for a Night post? Now I got a bag! Wondering why I'm spending my precious time cutting, stitching and sticking rather than buying a new and classy bag, it's because I don't have money! Haha XD Well, that's one reason. The major reason is that a few weeks ago, Irish (my HRIM blockmate and friend) said that she will be having a debut party and the theme is peach and cream. She announced it around 2 weeks before the said date so we really have no idea what to wear etc. Thanks to my mom's closet (read: backup closet), I found a simple peach dress! So I had my shoes and my accessories ready but one thing's missing, THE BAG!!!!
I don't have a peach bag nor a "in a good state" clutch bag!
And deep inside, I'm really a frustrated fashion designer when I was a kid. I used to have a scrapbook of outfit cut-outs from newspapers and I also used to draw and design gowns and dresses. I'm proud to tell that some of them became a trend sometime! But I guess I really lack the drawing skills. Nevertheless, I think I'm doing good with designing accessories in my shop Miss Bella Mode. :)

But I had one, this snake skin-like texture wrist bag that my classmate gave me when we were in 1st year HS as an exchange gift. Over time I regularly use it whenever I go anywhere near because it can accommodate all my essentials (hanky, phone and money). So I tend to overuse it and so this what happened to it. It chipped off and faded. And my dad won't even allow me to use it. But it's still intact (no holes or any stuff)! In this picture I already cut off the snake skin cloth from the zipper part.

Bye bye snake skin clutch! I'm gonna makeover you now!

Gathering materials from my house, I found this old peach pajama in our closet. When I saw the color I immediately know that it would fit my outfit for that day so I didn't hesitate to use it!

Since this is also a tutorial, I will list down everything you need for this craft:
(Old) Cloth of your choice
Glue gun and glue sticks
Scissors
Laces
Needle and thread
Tarpaulin

and a mom that would never scold you in ruining the stack of clothes instead would give you advice on how to make it better. Haha XD Infairness, she supported me by asking what I'm doing and suggesting that I use tarpaulin inside the bag to make it stable and waterproof. :)
I was my first time to design and make a bag and I didn't have any training or anything like that except that I make clothes for my dolls when I was a kid. This was really a challenge if I could do it and won't give up on the process if I didn't like the result. But at least, I tried right? :)

Here's what I did.

1.) I cut a portion of the PJ and I made sure to measure it first with the original bag.

2.) Sew the sides of the bag to make a pouch

3.) I made pleats(and on the other side) and sew them under the white part, and also the sides (like what it used to look like before). I didn't sew them all, so only the pleats and the sides are attached to the white part. You'll know later why.

4.) Gather some laces (or anything you want to decorate your bag) Mine I bought at Carolina's at SM Megamall. 1/2 yard of the floral lace and 1 yard of the small lace cost P20.50 only!

5.)My peg is something around the words floral, peach, fantasy, dreamy and flowing. I think because my dress is so simple and straight that I need a little fun in my bag. hehe XD
So I glued the floral lace on the white part but only the sides and in the middle so you can easily remove it. Why? It's just for you to see how it would look like and where you will add the other lace. And it would be hard for you to sew the other lace if all the floral lace is glued to the white part.

5.) This is what I'm talking about. I sew the small lace in between the peach cloth and the white part.

6.) After that I sew the small laces in their position so they won't fly away or move. It's actually the challenging part because I also need to design and vary their position and length. Somehow my peg went right!

7.) I glued the other parts of the floral lace again and ensured that it won't fall off. Remember it's not sewn on the bag rather it was just glued!

8.) I sew a tarpaulin inside for it to have a body and to be water resistant. :)

Details :)

Here it is! So love!!!

Can you believe that it's from an old pajammyy??? haha XD

Me with the clutch!

I hope you liked this post and you'll be inspired to DIY too! :) Really! It costs less than buying and you can input your design too! That also includes your friends being awed by your talent hahahaha XD (Hi Friendss! I so love you guys!)

Shoe Designer for a Night

If you're wondering why I've been MIA even if I already got internet connection and sem break has started in UP a week ago... it's because... I got sick and I am finishing my commitment to my college newsletter which will be launched on the first week of classes.
But I really missed blogging! So here's a back-to-blogging post I wanna share with you!

When creativity strikes, you shouldn't let it go! Especially when my mother started bugging me to "fix" her sandals. It was actually from my tita's friend and just gave it to my mom, she accepted it because they had the same size with her hopes that my "creativeness" could do something in this.

So here I am, a shoe designer for a night.

Think you could wear this sandal in this state? My mom wouldn't!
She wouldn't for months. I think. Especially when I tried to paint the wooden circles to try out (the other pair was the guinea pig) . So she started bugging me this sem break to finish what I've started.

The cover of the sandal is plastic, with 5 faded wooden circles and rusty metal circles. At first I really do wonder what was it like when it was new? It's not really my type of design of shoes. But there must be something that encouraged the previous owner to buy it.

Anyway, My mom doesn't want an OA design. Just, you know, to "hide" the 5 old circles. I used cheap materials to stylize this old sandal. Since I have an accessory shop business, I have a lot of wires and stuff. I also stocked bottles of paint for personalizing button earrings. So that's what I used: Wires, spacers, acrylic paint and super glue.

And this is the result,

TADAAHH!!

I painted the wooden circles with white and covered it with bronze spacers. Not yet contented, I added spiral flair with the bronze wire.

Tip: The super glue is not called SUPER for no reason. Be careful not to stick your fingers. Swear, it hurts.

Who would say that it's the same faded and rusty sandal, eh?
It's not

And now my mom likes to wear it now! Hoho!

Achieved ba?

Cover Snaps: June Issue

Hello Charmed!

I've been strolling around the local bookstore for some inspiration, usually about fashion and magazine matters and I happen to see the latest covers of the some famous page flippers! I took pictures of some that grabbed my attention (read: critique). Covers are really important, first of all because magazines are usually sealed before you buy them!  Next is the appropriateness of the theme/article teasers to your  taste and need. Some are new, some are fresh, some stuck to the old fad. If they effective or not? Let's look at the covers!

I would give Vogue a thumbs-up for their July issue. In this "Ageless Style Issue",  making Helena Bonham Carter as their cover girl  was  a nice classic twist from the usual fashion forward themes.   Women from mid20s to 40s won't miss a chance to catch a glimpse of this, especially those who are torn between keeping or throwing their classic pieces and buying the trends (read: summer cleaning). It's like Bellatrix saying "Hey, you could still be fabulous even after 20 years in Azkaban!". Don't you love the hair?

Meanwhile here's the June issue of Vogue featuring Kate Moss. I liked how they made summer issue a high fashion one. But isn't too overwhelming? Kate Moss is regarded as a top model, they could have get a "not-so top" one for this issue (obviously, Tyra Banks won't work too).  Beach chic? Why not Cameron Diaz? Or Gwyneth Paltrow? The could also do a high-fashion shot, yet their cheerful vibe is what I want to see during the summer issue. Looking at the those Vogue issues, I could say that Helena knocked it off.

A back-to-school issue won't be over without featuring Emma Watson as a cover girl in at least one magazine. Trust me. It seems like the people can't get enough of her brainy Hermione/Sam character. In fairness to her, I liked how she sport a sexy preppy teen in here. A fresh, neat look and a strategic peek-a-boo cuts just show that you could stand out and in your own simple way! Really geek + chic!

In the local scene, Metro and ABS CBN did a good job on marketing both the magazine and their cover girl. Kathryn Bernardo sported a coming of age, minimalist look in here. With a classic  white midriff dress and a breath-taking cool layout made a different  take  from her  sweet demure image. But I also remembered Charice's cover on Preview (Jan.Feb issue) before, doing the same fierce pose in a minimalist up-do.
Hmmm…. What do you think?

This is not a glossy paper but this got my attention too!

 Cool sequel title. Haha XD

Anyway, they are just my opinions. This is what I gain after a year of writing for a magazine, I think. But I feel like doing this every month! It's fun. I hope I can hear from you too. What do you think about these covers?

Love,

MoMo

ZALORA Picks: Pretty Little Liars' Emily Fields' Style

Hello Charmed!

Here's another Jolie Petite Menteuses. That's Pretty Little Liars in French. Haha XD Je parle un peu francais. And I want to refresh my skill in there, so I think I need to have a French speaking friend. Haha! And I think (according to my stats), I have few French readers. Allo, mes amis!

The 3rd part of my ZALORA picks featuring Pretty Little Liars cast is the style of Emily Fields. She's the swimmer and the Ali's "pitbull" as her friends say, 'cause she's the only one on Ali's side no matter what. She loves Ali too much that she became emotional when her best friend was gone.

Aside from this, Emily has a strict parents. That's why she has that laid-back, conservative, sporty look.

Whenever we go to school or party, we all love to dress up and be glamorous but in the end we all just want to end up with this relaxed look like Emily's. The t-shirt-jeans-flats combo and a cardigan cover-up or varsity jacket to finish the look!

I always wear this look whenever I go to school. Since we have no uniforms, and I prefer to walk around the campus, this style is very appropriate.

You could get them too at ZALORA and get 5% discount by entering Charmed123 for purchases Php500 and up!

'Til next!

MoMo :)

OOTD: Summer Laid-back

Hello Charmed!

This post will be the last one I'll make during the official vacation. *sigh*  Because tomorrow is UP's registration days. And it's like Hunger Games. May the odds be ever in our favor.

Anyway, I just want to thank those who invited me to watch Sa Wakas! You spiced up my summer! Haha! For my local readers, don't miss it, okay? :D

Since I had a lot of time dressing up and self-timer-ing myself, I've almost made a stylebook! Haha! Here's an outfit that you can rock when you're jet-setting or travelling around. Especially if you're not so slim or sexy (like me!). When you've gained that extra pound or just don't want to show the big arms (I know what it feels guys :/ ). But that won't stop you from being fashionable right? Right!!

Here's the trick: Like me, I've always wanted to wear this dress, but sadly, it's sleeveless and too girly, so I searched for a cover-up. Instead of picking a bolero or cardigan, I opted for denim jacket for a laid-back look. Since it's kinda big for me, I shrunk. Tee-hee. And another is the belt. Tee-hee-hee. :D
I matched everything, including the accessories and ...

Voila!

I'm ready to stroll the beach!

Earrings- Arteefakt| Denim Jacket and dress -mine (old)| Wedges- Payless
Hype this look on Lookbook and Chictopia

Have you spotted that chandelier earrings from Arteefakt? Actually that is from Paige. She won it from a giveaway. Since she doesn't have ear piercings, she gave it to me! I'm very fond of them!

Dragonfly ring-mine | Watch Bracelet- Craft Monster's Flower Realm
Functionality and style in one! Love that watch bracelet from Craft Monster's Flower Realm!

And my fave hairstyle this summer.... messy bun!!! Whoo! I sooo love the loose hairs and bangs! :D

*emote* Haha XD

I hope you would be inspired by this look that, what ever body type you have, you should just know how to style it and be confident about it!

And most important thing is...

SMILE!!!

Happy Summer!!

Momo

ZALORA Picks: Pretty Little Liar's Hanna Marin's Style

And I'm back again with another Pretty Little Liar's fashion feature! Now, it's going to be fab! We all know that they're fab though, but this one really the most fashionable one. The ugly duckling that turned into a feisty swan... Hanna Marin!

From Google Images

When it comes to the character, I could relate more to her. Once being taken for granted and being ignored but now she's the popular girl in the school. I don't mean I'm popular too but just like her, I undergo some changes for myself to be a better person :D And that's because I was once bullied. But just like her, I get along with my closest friends a lot. :)

From Google Images

And when it comes to taste in fashion, this is really the one to steal! Hanna Marin's the dressy type and always stands out in the crowd. If you happen to read the books, it was said that she's the trendsetter; she's always the first one (and the best one) to pull off, say, that Prada shoes or Zac Posen dress around their school, aside from Mona of course, her (ex)bestfriend.

Good thing there's ZALORA! There are a lot of fab items you could choose there! And what's more? They have almost every week discounts! Can't count! But here's a discount you could steal right now: GET 5% off your purchases P500 and up when you use our code Charmed123 ! Here are my picks featuring ZALORA!!!

Hello Summer!!

Hello there!! How's your vacation huh? Say hello to the hot weather, the splash of the water because it's officially summer! (Rhyming FTW! LoL)
Anyway, there were sometimes that I was left alone in the house so I decided to have a photo shoot by myself! Haha! Self-timer mode!

For this, I wore the staple outfit for summer,... what more but white shirt and shorts! I tried different looks with these so tune up for my next posts! But now, I want to welcome the summer with my favorite    colors, black and white! And of course to add flair to these are the colorful accessories!

Vote for this look on Chictopia
Hype this on Lookbook

Notice my flats? You always see that in malls, and as of now they're the comfiest and durable pair I have! I always wear them during sunny days around UP.

You can't go wrong with the white shirt and black shorts because they can be paired to almost a lot! Feel fresh in white! Go with the relaxed look!

This was taken inside my room Lol haha XD So I apologize for the quality and the poses! But I hope this will be nostalgic... back when we're not yet color blocking and trendsetting :) You can still have fun with the basics, right?

'Til next!

Love,

MoMo :)
