NICHIDO Lip Liner in Rosette Review (plus Doctor Who stuff!)

It's fun how exchange gifts and wishlists influence you to try out a new product. Haha! We had an exchange gift two weeks ago in our newsletter team and because the giver should be a "secret" we created a wishlist where everybody could write what they want to receive. Thankfully my "baby" just wanted either a USB or The Big Bang Theory Episodes. So I gave her Loki earrings! Haha!
WHICH I MADE! EXCUSE ME! And she requested that from me long before. #excuses
Okay, well I noticed that on the wishlist, two girls wanted to receive a NICHIDO lip liner. And considering we have a 100 minimum budget, I thought that this was really cheap! So I checked this one out!

I found out that this comes in four shades: Blaze (red color), Spice (coral shade), Roseberry (nude) and this one Rosette (warm pink/brown/natural).

Price: P100! Very affordable for a student budget!

One stroke on my hand

As you can see, it gives off a natural, warm, pink+brown color and it matches my lips perfectly! Perfect for everyday look to school! I really love wearing a natural looking lip product whenever I go to school so it's not very obvious yet you look neat and nice. And it's my first time to try out a lip liner and it really works fine!

Pros:
Good pigmentation
Nice color on my lips
Doesn't hurt my lips when applying because it has a creamy consistency
Perfect for go-to looks/"no make-up look"/natural look

Cons:
The shade is so natural on my lips I almost thought at first I didn't put anything at all! (Well, I want to try out the other shades too!)
Creaminess of the product tend to smudge and feather, but not too much. No worries about that actually.

Will I buy again?
Yes! But different shades! I would love to try Blaze and Spice. I was actually torn between buying Spice or Rosette. But I loved the redness of Blaze!

Under daylight

But I absolutely love how it looks under daylight. I love how can be matched with less-to-no make up at all or with bronzers+blush ! In fact I can totally wear it on it's own and still look like I just got out from bed! LOL! haha!

Powder + Nichido lip liner + messy hair= beach babe just-woke-up-and-I'm-off-to-go

See what I mean? Haha!

And of course, it reminds me of Amy Ponds' look! I know you know that I'm still watching Doctor Who Season 6 and she's one of the reasons why I love the show! And I'm really keen on copying her look! Hahaha! I also want ginger hair!!!!!!

(photo grabbed from net)

Well with a dash of eyeliner, mascara, cheek tint and brow liners (and ginger hair!!) and off you rock Karen Gillan's look in here!

Talking about Doctor Who, let me just say that I'm one of the fans that really love Matt Smith's role as the 11th Doctor and now that he left the show to pass the torch to Peter Capaldi, I really wish Matt to have an awesome career outside Who!

As a tribute to the 11th Doctor,
I made a COMMEMORATIVE 11TH DOCTOR'S OUTFIT: BOWTIES ARE COOL EARRINGS

Hope you guys, Whovians, Doctor Who fans, loved them. :)
It's the best I could do to express my lateness (in every sense of the word) and love for the show and Matt Smith. :)

P.S. GUYS, I HAVEN'T WATCHED "TIME OF THE DOCTOR" YET.
So don't send me spoilers please! I know nothing about Clara yet! Hahahahaha! I'm still in Season 6! (Episode 11, to be exact -____ - ) . So please be good to me! :)

But anything you want to discuss, just comment below! :)

Momo

Mga Anino ng Kahapon (Shadows of the Past) Premiere Night + Review

It has been a while since I watched an indie film with a critical eye on the story line.
Mga Anino ng Kahapon (Shadows of the Past) is a story of a schizophrenia patient, Irene (Agot Isidro), as she and her family undertake the situation and the treatment of her illness.

I never doubted Ms. Agot Isidro's acting skills. She's ageless and very versatile and especially in this role where she needs to represent a simple, caring mother and wife to her family-turned paranoid, schizophrenia patient. Both she and her husband, Ed (TJ Trinidad) are nurses and when Ed went to Dubai to work overseas, she was left with their son, her mother-in-law and brother-in-law. Due to frightening events that happen around their area and traumatic experiences of Irene in the past, lead her to be protective of her family and all of a sudden, develop symptoms of schizophrenia. She sees and hears voices and "house guests" and recalls the moments during Martial Law.

TJ Trinidad (Ed) and Agot Isidro (Irene)

The story revolves around the development of the illness, and how the family adjust and help with her treatment. The movie shows how the patient could develop such illness how it could affect the relationships within the family.

I liked the flow of the story where it develops efficiently with the characters. Change where the change is needed. Plus the hindered disclosures breaks the monotony of the story line. Also the cinematography is good, they used the continuous shooting technique and close-up shooting to make the audience feel like they are with them and see the emotions deeply.

It's not a glamorous film. Low-key, might be. But the "feels" and emotions are heart-felt.
The movie has a message not only about schizophrenia, which is indeed the core, but most of all about the role of the family in this kind of situation.

TJ Trinidad is fitting for Ed's role since the character needs a strong and faithful personality. I personally think he is too handsome for the role! Haha! Anyway, he did really good and I can't help thinking, when we were inside the cinema, of his reaction watching himself in this kind of film?
It's my first time to watch a movie with the actor/actress watching with us and it really feels strange.

Cast and crew.

All in all, Mga Anino ng Kahapon is a very good, inspiring and heart-felt movie. It may not bring you to tears instantly but I assure to you that the ending will put you in the verge of crying, at least. Well, you'll never know when. :)
And that is an applause to the Director and Writer, Alvin Yapan and all of the cast for a memorable film. Yes, it left an impression. A very good impression, indeed.

After the movie we had photos!! Yay!

Watch Mga Anino ng Kahapon at these following cinemas and schedules.

Mga Anino ng Kahapon (Shadows of the Past) is under MMFF New Wave Category.
Let us support Filipino films!

Momo :)

P.S. Thanks (again) Ate Melai for the invite! :)

5 Reasons Why I end up becoming a Doctor Who fan (and YOU should too!)

5 days from now until "The Time of The Doctor" will be shown and also the last appearance of Matt Smith as the Doctor. So I made this blog post to celebrate my current conversion to the Doctor Who fandom. Yeah! I'm a new convert! So what do we call ourselves? Whovians? Haha XD
Anyway, I just started watching Doctor Who around 3 weeks ago. [TOLD YOU I'M NEW, FRESHLY BREWED CONVERT!!] And I started with Season 5, Matt Smith's reign as the Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, his companion. The idea of Doctor Who to me before was it's a sci-fi show that has a lot of complexities that I would find it hard to cope up with if I decided to start watching it sometime. Plus the regeneration-thingy makes me think that it's like a never-dying/we-will-keep-it-long show. (Imagine what I think of that now.) I have few friends that would rant to me about the Doctor being dead (or it was like "Moffat likes killing his actors!" like what he did to Sherlock haha XD ). That didn't trouble me before until now!

So what pulled me into the rabbit hole?

Here are my 5 reasons!

1.) THE FANS (or what they call themselves WHOVIANS)

They were actually the first one who influenced me. What the fans did on the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who. One of my friends in Facebook, along with her friends and Whovian Philippines, had a costume party to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of the show. They dressed up like the characters, in coats, neckties, bowties, with a blue policebox (that I really don't understand what that is since). For me, that was really amazing. To think even the fans here in the Philippines would make an effort like that for their beloved show, it must be a really good one to watch!

(Photo from: Geanne Flores here )

2.) THE ACTOR
Matt Smith is my first doctor (my raggedy doctor... *.* ). When I first saw him on the Eleventh Hour (which is also my first episode to watch) I remembered Jim Carey! But that's not it. Haha XD Matt is quirky, cunning and fun to watch and his portrayal of his role as the Doctor is what is instilled in our minds. Weird but lovable and cheerfully smart! Who doesn't love his dramatic monologues? (Legs. Yes. Bowties. Cool.) Matt is also young and hot which makes him more "reachable" than my other British crushes like Ben and Tom.
Although I might sound biased (okay I'm already there), I'm excited to watch his predecessors too!  What about his successor, Peter Capaldi? Well, I think we'll be having a hard time coping up with him since he's a lot older than Matt but who knows? Matt has been under that critics and fans's noses too when he started as the Doctor but now he proved that his absence would break a lot of hearts! So Peter Capaldi will have to do his very best to mend the broken hearts and impress the Whovians.

3.) THE COMPANION
Amy Pond. The Girl Who Waited.
Does that sound nicer if that's your name instead? Haha XD Kidding.
Anyway, Amy is also my first and her strong, brave and sassy character makes me like her so much! Karen and Matt's off cam relationship is also cute! Especially when I watch Doctor Who Confidential eps, their flirting and accent (I love her Scottish accent!) is enough to make my heart jump! With the whims and lonesomeness of the Doctor, he certainly needs someone to be with him to travel through different time and space and show how impressive he is is time-travelling with his TARDIS. Well after all, he is a mad man with a box, some nice girl would do to give some sanity... or not.

4.) THE BOX, THE PLANETS, AND THE OTHER DIMENSIONS IN SPACE AND TIME
Endless possibilities. Different times, different space. Long ago or million years after.
Doctor Who gives us at least an episode of not the usual earth-thing. Starting with his bright blue box that's bigger on the inside to the bubble universes, parallel dimensions, starships, talking planets; name it, the Doctor can give you a glimpse of them. Any time you prefer. It's awesome how they can come up with the idea of each of them but one thing's sure; anywhere or anytime you put the Doctor and his companion, there will be an adventure coming. It's fun to see how creative they can be. That's one reason why we are kept on our seats.

5.) THE HEAD WRITER: STEVEN MOFFAT

I became a Sherlock fan first before Doctor Who. But back then I really thought that Steven Moffat is really a genius writer and wouldn't run out of creative juices. All the suspense, the elements of surprise, the tricky twists, and unraveled endings (and cliffhangers) is just so HIM. Not to mention his witty scripts that will make you laugh every now and then. How he turns a freaky episode to a heart warming realization (e.g. The Beast Below, Time of Angels, Flesh and Stone) is just brilliant! Although he loves "killing" his characters and props (read: fez), he's got a nice turn up point of the characters.  I wonder if he loves grand entrance? Because his characters surely does. No wonder he usually writes the firsts and lasts episodes. Haha! I would love to meet him soon. Or work with him! *Salutes*

It's not hard to love Doctor Who. Maybe the boredom, or the curiosity or the long wait for Sherlock pulled me into this black hole but what ever the reasons are, every episode kept me wanting for more. And I'm still on even after Matt Smith's reign, I still want to see what Peter Capaldi has up in his sleeve. Oh wait, will he be wearing that bow tie too? Gotta watch out!

What about you? Are you part of the WHOVIAN fandom? :) Comment below! :)

MoMo :))

My Little Bossings Blogger's Night

Two of the most popular kids in showbiz right now, each with distinct personalities teamed up in a family movie with the Box-office King and Queen of MMFF! The street smart Ryzza Mae Dizon and the "socially elite" James "Bimby" Aquino Yap with "Bossing" Vic Sotto and Kris Aquino in My Little Bossings, an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival this 2013!

We had a chance to chat with the lead actor himself, "Bossing" Vic, the energetic kid Ryzza Mae  and head writer Ms. Bibeth Orteza last Friday at Annabel's about their latest movie.
And tell you, the Blogger's Night was filled with witty exchanges between these people!

For a long time she's been working with Vic (ever since Iskul Bukol), Ms. Bibeth admits she still has a lot of ideas for Vic. " [I] barely scratched the surface". I also liked when she said that only few people would invite the writer during press conferences/ blogger's night like this one, like Vic Sotto.
Being the writer of the story she said that My Little Bossings was tailor made for Ryzza and Bimby and she can't think of other people playing the parts. It wasn't that hard to make the script for them as long as you know the skills of the actors and actresses.

Vic plays the role Torky Villanueva who works as a bookeeper for the millionaire cash management specialist Baba Atienza (Kris). Because of some conflict in her business, Baba entrusts her son Justin (Bimby) to Torky’s care for fear of her life. In the meantime, Torky’s niece Ice (Aiza) who lives in the same house with him, is involved in an advocacy for street children where street kid Ching (Ryzza ) becomes her special ward. Ice brings Ching home when the orphanage closed down. The fun begins when all these people start living in one roof while they each tackle his respective personal dilemma.

At first, they're convincing Kris to let Bimby into the movie and she would just agree if they will give Bimby a full length movie and she wanted her son's first experience in making movies to be with someone of Vic’s stature and humility.

Which is a good choice since Vic is known for taking care of child stars. But Vic admits that "I don't see my self as a star -builder. I see myself as a supporter and believer of raw talents." Ms. Bibeth also agrees by saying "Full support si Vic sa mga child stars niya." Even during shootings of "Vampire ang Daddy ko", after Ms. Bibeth gives intructions [to Ryzza] and goes inside the OB van, Vic also gives advice on acting execution.

Vic also shares his experience working with the two kids. He says that Ryzza is really makulit and very conservative. "Working with a child is just a wonderful experience and I always see to it na 'yung trabaho namin may kasamang laro. It's work and play at the same time. In this movie dalawa 'yung kalaro ko. Isang madaldal, isang rough."  As we could always see on the TV, the joke exchanges between Bossing and Ryzza in Eat Bulaga makes up our lunch time.

But what about Bimby?
"Hindi ko masyadong pinagkakausap kasi 'yung role namin it starts na talagang aloof kami, hindi mutual ang feelings namin sa isa't isa. Hinayaan kong hindi kami nag-uusap. Pero halfway through the production, eh naging close na rin kami."  Bimby was shy at first too but after few weeks of shooting he's already hitting the marks! There's rough play, wrestling, etc. even with or without takes, and it was really cool feeling.

Well Bossing and Ryzza even played Bato- bato pick that night! Haha! Who do you think won? :D
Bossing and Ryzza playing Bato-bato pick! Who do you think won?
Ryzza won! Haha!

But the big question is how did Ryzza and Bimby worked out? "Madali naman kausap 'tong si Ryzza eh, naregaluhan lang ni Bimby ng chocolates okay na." Bossing confessed. Ryzza also tells that she's now close with Bimby too!

Bossing Vic expressed his excitement in this movie. Unlike his previous movies, no fantasy, special effects-- simple, family movie. "It's funny. It's very entertaining. It will cater to all ages. I'm sure they will have a good time this coming Christmas 'pag pinanood nila ang My Little Bossings."

Vic Sotto and Me! :D

I think the movie "My Little Bossings" is more than just a family comedy movie as it tackles some issues of the society also. If you want to spend your holidays with a light and funny Filipino movie, I can say that you would really enjoy this movie. :)

P.S. Thanks Ate Melai Entuna for inviting me! :D

“My Little Bossings” is produced by OctoArts Films, M-Zet Films, APT Entertainment and Kris Aquino Productions all of which have brought out their guns to ensure that it is a heartwarming, quality movie through and through. More than the big names attached to the film, “My Little Bossings” is a family film packed with lessons wrapped in humor, wit and laughter---exactly what we need in times like these.

“My Little Bossings” also stars Aiza Seguerra, Jaclyn Jose, Jose Manalo, Paolo Ballesteros, Barbie Forteza, Neil Coleta, and Neil Sese from the direction of Marlon Rivera. Story and screenplay by Bibeth Orteza.

“My Little Bossings” starts showing on Christmas Day as an entry to the 2013 MMFF.

Bag Designer for a Night!(Plus Tutorial!)

a

Hello there!

Remember my Shoe Designer for a Night post? Now I got a bag! Wondering why I'm spending my precious time cutting, stitching and sticking rather than buying a new and classy bag, it's because I don't have money! Haha XD Well, that's one reason. The major reason is that a few weeks ago, Irish (my HRIM blockmate and friend) said that she will be having a debut party and the theme is peach and cream. She announced it around 2 weeks before the said date so we really have no idea what to wear etc. Thanks to my mom's closet (read: backup closet), I found a simple peach dress! So I had my shoes and my accessories ready but one thing's missing, THE BAG!!!!
I don't have a peach bag nor a "in a good state" clutch bag!
And deep inside, I'm really a frustrated fashion designer when I was a kid. I used to have a scrapbook of outfit cut-outs from newspapers and I also used to draw and design gowns and dresses. I'm proud to tell that some of them became a trend sometime! But I guess I really lack the drawing skills. Nevertheless, I think I'm doing good with designing accessories in my shop Miss Bella Mode. :)

But I had one, this snake skin-like texture wrist bag that my classmate gave me when we were in 1st year HS as an exchange gift. Over time I regularly use it whenever I go anywhere near because it can accommodate all my essentials (hanky, phone and money). So I tend to overuse it and so this what happened to it. It chipped off and faded. And my dad won't even allow me to use it. But it's still intact (no holes or any stuff)! In this picture I already cut off the snake skin cloth from the zipper part.

Bye bye snake skin clutch! I'm gonna makeover you now!

Gathering materials from my house, I found this old peach pajama in our closet. When I saw the color I immediately know that it would fit my outfit for that day so I didn't hesitate to use it!

Since this is also a tutorial, I will list down everything you need for this craft:
(Old) Cloth of your choice
Glue gun and glue sticks
Scissors
Laces
Needle and thread
Tarpaulin

and a mom that would never scold you in ruining the stack of clothes instead would give you advice on how to make it better. Haha XD Infairness, she supported me by asking what I'm doing and suggesting that I use tarpaulin inside the bag to make it stable and waterproof. :)
I was my first time to design and make a bag and I didn't have any training or anything like that except that I make clothes for my dolls when I was a kid. This was really a challenge if I could do it and won't give up on the process if I didn't like the result. But at least, I tried right? :)

Here's what I did.

1.) I cut a portion of the PJ and I made sure to measure it first with the original bag.

2.) Sew the sides of the bag to make a pouch

3.) I made pleats(and on the other side) and sew them under the white part, and also the sides (like what it used to look like before). I didn't sew them all, so only the pleats and the sides are attached to the white part. You'll know later why.

4.) Gather some laces (or anything you want to decorate your bag) Mine I bought at Carolina's at SM Megamall. 1/2 yard of the floral lace and 1 yard of the small lace cost P20.50 only!

5.)My peg is something around the words floral, peach, fantasy, dreamy and flowing. I think because my dress is so simple and straight that I need a little fun in my bag. hehe XD
So I glued the floral lace on the white part but only the sides and in the middle so you can easily remove it. Why? It's just for you to see how it would look like and where you will add the other lace. And it would be hard for you to sew the other lace if all the floral lace is glued to the white part.

5.) This is what I'm talking about. I sew the small lace in between the peach cloth and the white part.

6.) After that I sew the small laces in their position so they won't fly away or move. It's actually the challenging part because I also need to design and vary their position and length. Somehow my peg went right!

7.) I glued the other parts of the floral lace again and ensured that it won't fall off. Remember it's not sewn on the bag rather it was just glued!

8.) I sew a tarpaulin inside for it to have a body and to be water resistant. :)

Details :)

Here it is! So love!!!

Can you believe that it's from an old pajammyy??? haha XD

Me with the clutch!

I hope you liked this post and you'll be inspired to DIY too! :) Really! It costs less than buying and you can input your design too! That also includes your friends being awed by your talent hahahaha XD (Hi Friendss! I so love you guys!)

Oil-free Selfie with Garnier Light Complete

Are you fond of posting selfies on Instagram? Of course! We all do! We all wanted to flaunt our new hairstyle, fab make-up and stylish up-dos on the social community! But how now I decided to make an Oil-free selfie with Garnier Light Complete, and take note, this is also a No Makeup Look! Just my trusty facial moisturizing cream! Can this be an Instagram worthy post? Let's see!

Let us know about the product first.
Garnier Light Complete is a multi-action whitening cream with Pure Lemon Essence and Salicylic Acid derivative!

SO WHAT DOES IT DO?
Lemon Essence- helps in whitening and purifying dark spots
Salicylic Acid- prevents pimple-causing bacteria

WHY AM I USING IT?
Okay. This might be a cliché, but I have oily skin. So the story goes, my pimply face back in high school--turned acne marks--turned to very evident spot you can see on my ID and class pictures. T.T
The thing is, when I got into University of the Philippines- Diliman, as you probably know, you can't escape, (except from the stress and the academic works...that's given >.< ), THE SUN! It's the one that follows you every time you walk around the campus every change of subjects and you have to hop from a building to another every 12 noon causing your skin to get dark and burned. YOU REALLY NEED A POWERFUL SPF WHEN YOU'RE STUDYING HERE. Unless you have a car, of course. But the catch is, I need a product that can minimizes the appearance of acne marks, prevents my skin from getting too oily throughout the day and protecting my skin from the excruciating harmful rays of the sun.

My own SELFIE challenge using GARNIER Light Complete.

Applying GARNIER Light Complete Whitening Cream

WHAT'S TO LOVE?

I love the lemon/ citrus scent! Plus it's good to my skin! I get instantly matte-finish, clarified skin. I don't get very oily after 8 hours or so. And after a week, any dark spots/ acne marks are noticeably minimized!
That's why I love this product! I mean, seriously, all necessary needs of my skin and lifestyle are met by GARNIER Light Complete!
AFTER APPLICATION:

Trust me, it's just the cream! Haha XD Although I'm not really 100% flawless, I'm confident with my skin! Sometimes I just put powder, eyeliner and lip balm and I'm good to go!

And here's my Oil-free Selfie pose with GARNIER Light Complete!
Is it HEART-worthy? :3

How about you? Show us your oil-free selfie too!

Love,

Momo :)
